Denver F. Gray founded Gray & Company, Inc. in 1948. He recognized that the insurance market needed an insurance program that could respond to the exposures of the offshore oil and gas industry with its overlapping combination of state and Federal jurisdictions and complex contractual arrangements.

In response to this need, Gray & Company, Inc. developed a casualty package that combines coverage for General Liability, Automobile Liability, and Workers Compensation under one program.

The Company operated for many years as the underwriting manager for various unaffiliated insurance companies.
